Employees who pay union dues are considered members of ACMEA, while those who do not pay dues are considered non-members. Membership provides important benefits, including representation in disciplinary matters, grievances, and changes to working conditions. Members also have a voice in shaping and negotiating their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Non-members, by contrast, receive only the benefits outlined in the MOU. They do not have any voice in its development or negotiation, and the union does not provide them with representation or assistance, including answering questions related to workplace issues or the MOU.
